Breien op Madeira- Knitting in Madeira- Tricotar na Madeira

Ook tijdens deze reis ging ik op zoek naar plaatselijk breiwerk. In O Relógio te Camacha, één van de grootste zaken voor de verkoop van handgemaakte souvenirs, vond ik de typische grofgebreide mutsen en sokken terug die erg geschikt zijn voor het kouder en vochtiger klimaat in de bergen:
During this trip also I kept looking for local knitting. In O Relógio in Camacha, one of the biggest retail store for hand-made souvenirs, I found the typical bulky hats and socks, very well adapted to the colder, damp climate in the mountains:



Natuurlijk bracht ik ook tot tweemaal toe een bezoekje aan één van beide plaatselijke wolwinkels, Lãs Voga in de Rua dos Tanoeiros 81 te Funchal, een echte grot van Ali Baba. Ik kocht er heerlijk camelgaren, hemelsblauwe biobamboe van het Portugese merk Rosários en 4 tinten Portugese borduurwol om een Japanse jacquard tas mee te breien...
I also visited twice one of the two LYS, Lãs Voga in the Rua dos Tanoeiros 81 in Funchal, a real treasure trove; I bought some lovely camel yarn, sky blue bio bamboo yarn from the Portuguese yarn brand Rosários and four shades of Portuguese tapestry yarn to knit a japanese jacquard bag...

dat ziet er allemaal verleidelijk uit: op vakantie vind ik nooit dat soort winkels. Alleen handwerkwinkels met vergeelde borduurpaketten. Maar dit is om te kwijlen zo mooi.
