Indian Summer-Herinneringen. Memories. Souvenirs.

Indian Summer is definitely over. Some pictures from a University building in my neighbourhood, with the Japanese cherry trees of the same colour of the façade:

Even on Madeira there is no eternal Spring but Fall colours are somewhere more exotic on the island. At the end of September the ground is strewn with the flowers of the African Tulip Tree:

The terrible flooding in February and the devastating forest fires in August have made some walks on Madeira quite dangerous and walking with a guide is often advisable. Hence this account of the new Fanal-Assobiadores walk organised by Madeira Explorers. Highly recommendable!
A view of the mountains in the morning:

Only one house in the valley, that of the forest keeper. Imagine that plans existed to build a cable car in this pristine spot. Luckily Unesco prevented this:

Midsummer Night's Shawl-The end.

Let's listen to the cat : "My mistress has this bouts of procrastination. She needs to block urgently this pink and green object I am sleeping on although I don't know what it represents..."

"She added some repeats of the central motif and went freewheeling for the border, which resulted in curved endings":

"Blocking is tiring, with all this pushing,

and pulling to ensure that the pattern unfolds in all its beauty":

"I won't touch the border, these pins look dangerous to me":

"I am excited with the prospect of a new shawl":
